bats

Slow day @ JCI today. It's a welcome repose from a crazy work week though.

When I have some small breaks during the day I sometimes watch the videos on Theonion.com - most of them are really dry & not "haha" funny, but I just almost rolled out of my chair laughing at this one. It reminded me of the bats in Moody Coliseum @ ACU & how everyone would completely lose their minds when the bats came out. Ohhh, good times. Happy Friday! I'm going to see Miss Ellie this weekend so I'll take some more pics :)

aunthood

So my blog life has been quiet for a while. Deceivingly so, because my real life has been pretty eventful.

As most people who read this blog know, Ellison Fair Faubus was born on August 22nd! Here is what I think of her:

She is beautiful.
She is perfect.
She amazes me.
She has her Aunt Meagan wrapped around her tiny little adorably pudgy finger...

I can't believe how one single little person can unknowingly change my life. She has never given me anything, sacrificed anything for me, or shown me any sort of affection at all really. She can't even recognize faces yet, but I love her. And I KNOW that as much as I love her, it is NOTHING compared to how much her parents love her. I don't have to worry about getting up at 3 am to feed her, or making sure she's clean and happy and content. I think that sometimes parents aren't prepared to feel that depth of emotion AND grave responsibility all at the same time.
As parents you're responsible for this little life, not just any life, it's YOUR baby's life. She's not just some kid, she is a part of you. She shares your blood, she looks like you, she has your nose. And yet she is an individual soul. And as much as her parents love her, incredibly her Creator loves her even more. He knows her, and He has a plan for her life, and He's forgiven her for sins she hasn't even committed yet, and He sent His Son to die on the cross for them. And He has chosen you to be the ones to guide her through life.
So I understand that when (or if) parents are hit with this life-altering realization, it's got to be a shock. Especially when Parenthood isn't a stage of life that you ever grow out of.

This is one of those things that's not really weird or profound until you start thinking on it for a really long time and you just start to marvel at very obvious truths...But I have had a lot of time to think on things because I've driven to and from Bentonville, Arkansas for the past 3 weekends in a row. (because I'm addicted to Ellie like she's "my own personal brand of heroin" - whoever guesses that quote wins the prize :)

All this is just to say that I'm so very happy for little Ellie Girl. She has 2 healthy, smart, & loving parents who know Jesus. And who care enough to be overly concerned about the fact that she hasn't pooped for a while. Erin & Todd are going to be great parents, and I'm so excited for Ellie to get to grow up with such wonderful people to call Mommy & Daddy. I am very excited to see them grow as parents & watch her grow and learn and improve every day.

Sorry this is a whole lot of words and no pictures, but I still don't have the Internet at my apartment so I've just been writing this during work downtime...hopefully I'll get Internet soon!
