locks of love and pinkeye cobbler

I just chopped off 10 inches of hair!
It feels rediculously good. Literally a huge weight off my shoulders!
I've been growing my hair long so I could donate it to Locks of Love, but you have to have @ least 10 inches, so I let it get past my usuall limit. But now I'm loving my new Bob, the girl who cuts my hair always styles it for me too, and I can never get it to look the way she does it, so I caught some pics before my few good hair hours are up.

Here are some before and after pictures for the parents (i know, the pics are kinda weird, but I have a complex about taking pictures of myself):

Mourning the loss of the mane:

In other news...I had a mild case of pink eye for a few days this week and ended up missing some work. I wouldn't have minded that much, but it turns out I have a very short attention span and don't like sitting around watching tv for insane amounts of time. Pinkeye isn't exactly one of those sicknesses that makes you want to sleep all day either. So, I decided to make myself a blackberry cobbler. I think it turned out pretty darn good if I don't say so myself, which I just did.

Mmmm....sometimes you just gotta treat yourself to some homemade cobbler and enjoy having pinkeye for a while.

10K!

The Day that I've been running my booty off for 6 weeks has finally come and gone. (please excuse the nasty sweaty-ness of this picture of me, I did just run for 1 hr. straight)

My dear DEAR friend, Leigh ran the Fort Worth Zoo's 10K race with me this past weekend. Aside from the 5 a.m. wake up time, the slight morning drizzle, the unexpected smell of exotic animal feces, and the fact that we had to run a 10K, we had a BLAST! There were a ton of people who showed up, I was reminded of my old cross country days in high school.

Really, I had so much fun, but I'm really glad that it's over :)

After the race, Leigh and I celebrated by eating a huge pancake breakfast @ IHOP w/ our friend, Kelly. Then we went back to Dallas, got showered, and shopped till we dropped, literally. I love shopping with my friend Leigh because we have similar taste and she's always up for anything. We ended up going to see "I love you, Man" which I had already seen, but she had free movie passes and I was willing to see it again b/c I knew she would like it. It's one of those movies that I am kind of embarrassed to think is funny, but I secretly like it.

I am very VERY glad that the whole 10K thing is done, I think from now on I'm going to stick to 5K's and under.

25 hondas, 7 butterflies...

So, I've been running more lately because I'm trying to get in shape (somewhat) for this 10K race that I'm running w/ my friend, Leigh in a few weeks. Usually I would run about 2 miles and that's it. But now that I've been going longer, I tend to get really bored. So, I came up with some ways to occupy my mind while running. I'm not saying I'm some kind of genius, (not that anyone would ever think that anyway). On the contrary, my mind is actually very weak and gullible which makes it easy for me to trick myself. So, to keep my mind occupied from the fact that I'm running, I count things. It really works! I get so into counting random things, I forget that I want to die. And, it turns out that if you're looking for something specific, you end up seeing a lot more.

For instance, below is a list of all the things I counted on my run yesterday:

25 Hondas
7 Butterflies
3 Bald Men
4 Asian Families
1 Tom Thumb Bag
11 Dogs
3 Arrows written in pink chalk (which I followed)
1 Old hairy man with no shirt & short shorts
About 50 Ducks
1 Man-who-feeds-the-birds (I see him every day, and that is what I call him)
About 500 Tulips
1 Elderly couple walking arm-in-arm :)
1 Girl that I recognized from ACU but can't remember her name

After a while, I started making up songs in my head. Like, "one little, two little, three little bald men...." I ended up occupying myself for 4 miles with counting. Who knew that I would ever find counting things entertaining!

In other news...I'm leaving to go home for Easter tomorrow! I can't wait to go home, Erin & Todd are going too, so the whole family will be there for the weekend. Easter at home is so great, my mom is already planning to make all my favorite things to eat, and I know she's going to have everything decorated all Easter-y.
I hope everyone who reads this has a wonderful Easter weekend, and don't forget the reason that we celebrate it - it has nothing to do with the Easter Bunny :)

my sugar, spice and everything nice niece!

Yesterday I was so excited to find out that my sister is having a little girl! My first niece!
(Thank you, Erin for not playing any mean April Fool's Day tricks on us)

See her blog to see the sonogram pics here: http://www.simplyfaubulous.blogspot.com/

I really can't wait to meet her, and am already planning all the fun-aunt things that we can do together.

Yay for little girls! Our family is going to be full of them :)
